Terms of Service

venuew is operated by the operator named at the end of this document, in British Columbia, Canada.

1. Who may use venuew

You must be 16 or older to read or post. You must be 18 or older to hold a paid seat or to claim any share of money.

We ask you to confirm your age when you first set up. We do not verify it and we do not store a date of birth.

One login per person is the intent behind how seats are priced, but it is not a rule we enforce, and holding more than one login is not by itself a breach. Creating additional logins specifically to get around a seat limit, a suspension, or a block is a breach.

If your login is suspended, you may not come back under a new one.

2. Your account

You sign in with an email address or a phone number and a one-time code. There is no password.

Whoever controls that inbox or phone number controls the account. Keep it secure. We cannot recover an account whose email or number you have lost, and we have no obligation to try.

One login can hold a personal identity and one or more professional identities. They are separate in public — separate handles, separate followers, separate posts — but they are one account for everything in this document. Agreements, suspension, and operator status apply to the login, not to a single identity.

3. Your content, and the licence you give us

You keep everything you post. We claim no ownership.

To run the service, you give us permission to store your content and show it to the people you offered it to, in the ways the product works. That permission:

  • lasts only while you keep the content on venuew, and ends when you delete it;
  • covers only running venuew — not advertising against your content, not syndication, not promoting the service with it;
  • is not sublicensable and not transferable, including on a sale of the business, without your agreement.

We do not use your content, your messages, or your agent rules to train machine-learning models, and we do not licence them to anyone else to do so.

What survives deletion. When you delete a post it goes from the product. Two exceptions, and we would rather say them than have you find them:

  • If a post was reported or acted on, operators keep a snapshot of what was there, so there is a record of why a decision was made. See the Privacy Policy for how long.
  • Ordinary backups may hold a copy for a short period before they age out.

Moderation access. Operators can open posts and images inside a group, including groups they are not a member of, in order to deal with abuse. A group is private from other members of venuew, not from the people who run it, and not encrypted.

4. What you may not do

Do not use venuew to:

  • post spam, or use it for bulk unsolicited messaging;
  • harass, threaten, or abuse anyone;
  • post illegal content, or content that sexualises children;
  • post content that is sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, hateful, or otherwise objectionable;
  • impersonate a person or a business you are not;
  • get around a block, a suspension, or a group's roster;
  • scrape it automatically, or resell access to it.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive users. You can report a post or block a person at any time, and we may remove content or suspend a login that breaks these rules.

5. What we may do about it

We may remove a post or a comment, suspend a login, or refuse service.

We are not obliged to monitor anything, we do not promise to act consistently, and in this version we act without notice.

There is no formal appeal. You can write to us and a human will read it, but nothing obliges us to reverse a decision or to explain one.

6. Areas

An area is a public place. Anyone who has its address can read it and post in it.

We host areas; the person who made one keeps it. House rules written by an area's owner are theirs, not ours. We do not enforce them and we do not vouch for them. An owner removing a thread is their decision and says nothing about whether we found a problem with it.

We may remove anything in any area, at any time, regardless of its house rules.

If an area's owner deletes their account, the area and its threads remain, and we may reassign or remove it.

7. Groups

A group is a roster. Only people on it can see the wall.

That gate is enforced by the app, not by encryption. As in section 3, operators can open group posts and images to deal with abuse.

The owner adds people, and may allow members to add people. The owner may open a request door and close it again; closing it leaves any pending requests for the owner to accept or refuse.

8. Paid seats

Not yet in force. No payment has been taken.

Seats are monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. We may change prices with notice before the next renewal.

A member who joins at a founding price keeps that price for as long as their seat stays active without a break.

Refunds are at our discretion except where law requires otherwise. A suspended login keeps no right to a refund for the remaining period.

9. The pot

Not in force. No share of money is promised, owed, or claimable under this version. If and when it exists it will come with its own terms and its own acceptance.

10. Your agent

The rules you write for your feed are stored on your device and synced to your account so your other devices match.

We do not use your rules to profile you, to guess what else you might like, or to target anything at you.

If you use "Tell your agent", the sentence you type is sent to an outside AI provider to be turned into rules. Only that sentence is sent — not your rules, not your feed, not who you follow. See the Privacy Policy.

When you delete your account, the synced copy of your rules is deleted with it.

11. Ending it

You may stop using venuew at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may end your access at any time, subject to section 5.

On deletion: your posts and comments are removed from the product; groups you own pass to us to reassign or remove; areas you own survive per section 6; a paid seat is cancelled and not refunded for the remainder of the period.

12. The usual

venuew is provided as is. We do not promise it will be available, that anything will be preserved, or that it will be free of faults.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to cover us for claims arising from content you posted or from your breach of these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction.

A material change is published as a new version, and you will be asked to accept it before continuing to use venuew. Non-material corrections may be made without re-acceptance, and the version stays the same.
