What we collect
- To sign you in: an email address or a phone number. One-time codes sent to it. There is no password.
- Your profile: display name, handle, optional avatar, optional initials, optional bio — for each identity on your login.
- What you do here: posts, comments, likes, follows, blocks, group and area membership, reports you file.
- Your agent rules, stored on your device and synced to your account.
- Read state on your device: which posts you have already seen, so "unseen only" can work. It stays on that device.
- Age confirmation: the fact that you confirmed you are 16 or older, and when. Not your date of birth.
What we do not collect
No password. No date of birth. No tracking of you across other websites. No advertising profile. We do not rank your feed by what you tap — the feed answers the rules you wrote, and what you looked at is remembered only so it can be hidden from you, never to show you more of it.
Who else handles it
venuew runs on services outside Canada, so your information is processed in the United States and is subject to the laws there.
| Who | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Database and server host | everything above |
| Cloudflare R2 | images and video you upload |
| AWS SES | sign-in codes and account notices by email |
| Twilio | sign-in codes by SMS |
| xAI | only a sentence you type into "Tell your agent" |
| Apple, Google, Mozilla | push notifications, if you turn them on |
| Stripe | payment details, once paid seats open. We never see your card. |
Two of these deserve a plain sentence.
"Tell your agent." If you type a sentence into that box, that sentence is sent to xAI to be turned into feed rules. Only the sentence goes — not your rules, not your feed, not who you follow, not who you are. The suggestions come back as words you read and choose to keep. If you never use that box, nothing is ever sent.
Push notifications. A push carries identifiers only — no names and no message text. Your phone fetches the actual words from us, using your own signed-in session. If you are signed out, the notification says only that something happened. This means the delivery services above never see what a notification is about.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: until you delete them.
- A deleted post: removed from the product immediately. Backups may hold a copy briefly before ageing out.
- Moderation snapshots: when a post is reported or acted on, operators keep a copy of what it contained, so there is a record of why a decision was made. We keep those for 12 months.
- Sign-in codes: minutes. They expire, and five wrong guesses kill the code.
- Sessions: 30 days.
Who can see what
- Posts are offered, not delivered. Whether one reaches someone depends on the rules they wrote for their own feed.
- Areas are public. Anyone with the address can read and post.
- Group walls are limited to the roster — by the app, not by encryption. Operators can open group posts and images to deal with abuse.
- Blocking is one-way. Someone you block stops reaching you; your posts can still reach them.
- There is no follower directory. Nobody can list who follows you or who you follow.
- Likes are counts. There is no list of who liked something.
- Searching a person's handle also shows the professional accounts on that login. Searching a professional's handle does not reveal the person behind it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- see what we hold about you;
- correct it — most of it you can edit yourself;
- delete your account and its content, per section 11 of the Terms.
Write to the contact address below. We respond within 30 days.
A downloadable takeaway of everything at once is planned and not promised here, because it does not exist yet.
Children
venuew is not for under-16s. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we remove it.
Changes
A material change is published as a new version, and you will be asked to accept it before continuing. The version and the date you accepted are stored on your account.
